calendarThe standard time for a consultation with a Doctor is 10 minutes which is generally for one problem. If you feel that your problem is more complex or you wish to discuss a number of medical issues please request a double or triple appointment at the time of booking. Please note if you do come with multiple problems and only have a 10 minute appointment you may be asked to re-book if the doctor deems these problems to be non-urgent.

All consultations are by appointment which can be made in person or by telephone (see opening times).

Please allow our receptionists to direct you to the most appropriate person for your problem, however, we understand if you prefer not to say. Our staff are not being nosey but are trying to ensure you get to the most appropriate person. The GPs use this information to prioritise the needs of the patient.

Telephone Advice

Some problems can be resolved over the telephone so one of our reception team may suggest that you speak to a doctor or nurse.

Extended Hours Surgery - Saturdays

The surgery is taking part in the national initiative to offer consultations outside of our usual hours. This service is provided by the Primary Care Network (PCN) which we're part of and consists of the following practices Ongar Health Centre, The Limes Medical Centre, Epping High Street, Abridge Surgery, The Market Square Surgery and Maynard Court Surgery.

These appointments are available between 08:00 to 14:00 Saturdays and are held at Theydon Bois Surgery. They must be pre-booked with a GP or Nurse, and the normal surgery services will not be available during these times. Please contact reception for further details.

Nurse Practitioner and Practice Nurses

Our Nurse Practitioner and Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions.  They are all qualified to prescribe and so may be able to help you sooner than a GP.  Please let our reception team direct you to the most appropriate person to deal with your problem

Termination of pregnancy

For either personal or religious reasons no all GP's working here feel able to see patients for consultations regarding termination of pregnancy.

When making your appointment, you may wish to check which GP's will see and advise you if you need to discuss this with a clinician. We suggest this as a way of avoiding distressing or upsetting consultations for both patient and doctor.

Pleas be clear that GP's here are not making a judgement, however, they may hold their own personal opinions and beliefs which we also have to acknowledge.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
