An advocate is a person that is independent from social services, the NHS and is not a member of your family or a friend. They will act as your spokesperson and make sure that your wishes are heard.
They can help you:
- understand the care and support process
- talk about how you feel about your care
- make decisions
- challenge decisions about your care and support if you do not agree with them
- stand up for your rights
They can write letters for you and attend meetings with you.
If you need someone to speak up for you please visit the NHS website for more information.
